iPhone OS 3.0 Update Available NOW!
UPDATE 4: The iTunes Activation Server is currently down , confirming what some commenters on here already knew. Read more about the inopportune downtime here.
The iTunes Activation Server is back up and running.
UPDATE 3: After an eventful morning, the iPhone OS 3.0 update is now ready for download, on June 17th... just like WebProNews has said all morning.

UPDATE 2: It should be noted that it IS June 18th, 2009 in Singapore. Sites basing their information based on the Singapore date are misinformed.

UPDATE 1: Mike McDonald recently informed me that PC World is reporting that the iPhone OS 3.0 Software Update has been pushed back a day.
Upon further research I've found that PC World is linking to the Apple Singapore site, which does say June 18, 2009, when talking about Apple US. So it seems that there was a slight link mix up.
If you venture over to the Apple US site you'll see that the release is still tentatively scheduled for today, June 17, 2009.
Original Article: Today, sometime between 12:00 and 2:30 EST, Apple is releasing the OS 3.0 software update for the iPhone. Like most things from Apple, this release has some really great features, which I'll get to in just a moment.
The free OS update gives older iPhones the ability to run next gen iPhone apps (some features are not available for the first gen iPhones).

There are literally dozens of new features for the iPhone with this update, but we'll only be discussing the best of the best.
- Cut, Copy & Paste - Not sure why this wasn't in previous OS releases
- Landscape Keyboard - This makes typing much easier
- Tethering - Tether with laptops for Internet while traveling (Not available in US!)
- YouTube Login - Easily see your favorite YouTube videos
- Push Notifications - Now you'll know when someone is talking to you
- Shake to Shuffle - Simply shake your iPhone for a new song
iPhone 3.0 will be available for all iPhone, iPhone 3G's and iPod Touches. It should be noted that the 3.0 OS update for the iPod touch is NOT free, it will set you back $9.95.
